About the Super Stars
We call this our "Transitional Kindergarten" class because usually our Super Stars are children who just missed the cut-off age for kindergarten. Since these are the oldest and most developed children in the school we work hard to challenge their growing intellect by engaging in problem solving activities by incorporating science experiments, math and other hands-on activities.
Curriculum time continues to teach and reinforce all of the skills needed to start Kindergarten. These skills include the ability to write their name, letters of the alphabet, and numbers 1-20, shape and color mastery, word recognition, and problem solving skills.
Toys in the room include a number of different manipulatives (Lincoln logs, Legos, blocks, lacing toys, puzzles) and educational games. In addition to science experiments, Super Stars expand their creativity through a variety of art projects including coloring, painting, cutting and pasting, experimenting with different of art materials to create anything they can imagine. Our computer station teaches computer literacy through educational games online as well as theme-related educational websites.
